Tell us about yourself
I am a 35-year-old photographer and outdoor enthusiast from Bavaria. I find my most fertile inspiration in the mountains. I never leave without my Sony Alpha and GoPro and – because weight matters – sometimes also take my drone along.
Why do you travel and look for adventures?
Traveling and looking for new adventures, even small ones, can be a cure for the mind. In the last 3 years, the world has changed. In the outdoors, these changes become irrelevant.
What kind of adventures do you look for when you travel?
Mostly I look for a good balance of vacations like travel and thrilling experiences. I love climbing, cliff diving, and mountaineering. At the same time, I prefer to explore different cultures, food, and lifestyles.
What’s your go-to travel hack?
Don’t make too many travel plans. They will change eventually and spontaneous decisions are the ones you will remember. In any way. But that’s what adventures are made of.
Got any gear you can’t travel without?
Climbing shoes. You never know when you come across a tempting piece of rock.
What destination are you eager to go back to?
Iceland. Most definitely Iceland. It’s just epic.
How do you stay safe when you’re travelling?
I always try to make the right decisions and calculate possible risks. However, good insurance is an essential part, too.
What’s the best way to experience a destination like a local?
Be open-minded. Talk to the people and let them take you along, if possible. Speaking several languages won’t hurt either… So educate yourself!
What’s your favourite word in another language?
Calimera! That’s good morning in Greek. And you won’t ever ever forget a Greek sunrise.
When and where are you next travelling?
Probably Corsica. It’s been on my bucket list for quite some time.
